Sensory Salt Drawing Activity

Date: July 12, 2021
Author:Lara Abbas, Occupational Therapist

Why do this activity?

Completing this activity benefits the child by activating the multiple senses and memorizing letters. It also helps children who are not ready to write alphabet letters by drawing shapes and developing their pre-writing skills!

Materials needed:

  • Baking or Cookie tray
  • Regular table salt

How to:

Setting up this activity is very simple. Pour the salt onto the tray and you’re ready for the activity. Create with your little one beautiful drawings or write letters using fingers or sticks collected outdoors. The reveal of the contrasting black tray underneath the salt will be a reward for every movement.

(Strict and active supervision is required at all times)
